New scholarship programme for Asian students

The Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd recently announced a new initiative- the Australia Awards.

This new scholarship programme will allow students from across Asia to get the opportunity to study in Australia.

There had been a rising concern that youth’s lifestyle are ‘at risk’ due to the lack of recreational activities in Singapore. Recreational opportunities are important to youths as it can help to improve both their physical and emotional well-being. This also helps to prevent them from getting addicted into unhealthy hobbies such as gaming and whirling away their hours unproductively on social networking sites.

In response to this, National Parks Board (NParks) had been committed in introducing new recreational parks in the past one year. These fresh attractions were well-received by the youths. This is especially for Dairy Farm Nature Park and Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast which were launched recently.

Youth entrepreneurs swarm TP

He thought there were too many engineers and marine divers around.

Thus, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) Diploma in Mechatronics graduate, Edwin Yeo Chee Hui, now 31, decided to simply 'sit on the fence' instead. Edwin, who graduated in 2000, combined his love for engineering and diving into one entity - by forming an enterprise offering services dealing with the design and engineering of diving equipment named Opcon Pte Ltd set up in 2007.
