The Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd recently announced a new initiative- the Australia Awards.
This new scholarship programme will allow students from across Asia to get the opportunity to study in Australia.
Speaking at the University Cultural Centre in the National University of Singapore, Mr Rudd announced the first phase of the initiative, the Australia Asia Awards.
Backed by new funding worth AU$18 million, this new scholarship is modelled after the Colombo Plan which counts amongst its alumni former minister Lee Boon Yang, current minister Mah Bow Tan and Indondesian Vice-President Boediono.
With several top universities to choose from, including the prestigious Australia National University, local students should jump at this new opportunity to further their education.
In fact, more choices are up for grabs once the Singapore University of Technology and Design opens.
At the same event, Dr Ng Eng Hen, our Education Minister reveals that polytechnic students would be provided with much more opportunities to further their post-polytechnic education once the 4th university opens.
Students can now look forward for more opportunities to further their education.
