For fashion hunters who want to own exquisite and quirky outfits at good bargain, yet tired of ending up in a stuffy and overcrowded flea market once again, Souk Flea market @ Emily Hill would be an alternative fashion haven for you!

In the recent years, flea markets had been increasingly gaining popularity in Singapore. Souk Flea market is a bi-monthly event that receives overwhelming response from the youths.

Compared to the usual flea markets which are often noisy and packed with crowds, Souk Flea market is located at Emily Hill, a location of surreal quietude amidst the traffic noise, construction sites and millions of other daily abrasions in life. Emily Hill’s spacious historical site amid lush greenery is one of the reasons why it is so well-received by fashion hunters.

Mindy Keh, 19-year-old is a regular visitor to Emily Hill. She said, “Emily Hill is conveniently located in the heart of Singapore, yet away from the hustle of the city. Emily Hill often holds workshops and performances for the adults. It is a really fresh idea to organise flea market here as it successfully attracted and introduced young people to this beautiful environment.”

Souk Flea market allows individuals to hunt for the cheap bargains in a peaceful and relaxing environment. The goods in Souk Flea market range from second-hand clothes, books, to handmade craftwork, and there are even stalls offering tarot card reading services.

Mindy felt that shopping at Souk Flea market is a good way to get amazing deals at a low price, “This place is filled with young crowds and stalls, you can definitely find one-of-a-kind items and also all the best bargains here. You will be surprised to find a second-hand dress from Dorothy Perkins and other top-notch brands going for as low as 5 bucks. Furthermore, the goods sold are mostly in good condition.”

Besides the good buys, the unique and refreshing spaces at Emily Hill also attract young entrepreneurs to set up their own stalls. It is a good way to encourage entrepreneurism amongst youths by making the rental of the little stalls affordable.

Shan Shan, 20-year-old, is one of the young stall vendors at Souk Flea market. She said, “I always wanted to clear away the items that are piling up in my house and earn some money at the same time. I experienced setting up a stall in several different flea markets but amongst all of them, I feel that the environment at Emily Hill is the most ideal place for clearing my second-hand goods.”

Shan Shan felt that Emily Hill makes an awesome location for fashion hunting. “Because it is located at the top of a hill, the air-ventilation here is really good. It makes the shopper feels refreshed and encourage them to stay on longer and slowly hunt for more cool picks. I can guarantee that shopping at Souk Flea market would definitely be a rewarding and fruitful trip for you!”
